"Decorative cookies. NOT EDIBLE!"

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  2. Mix flour and salt well. Gradually add water, stirring with a large spoon. Finish mixing with hands. Knead until soft and pliable.
  3. Roll out on floured surface about 1/8 inch thick. Cut shapes with cookie cutters. Place on cookie sheets. With a toothpick make a hole in the top of the ornament for threading string. Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) until hard, about 1 hour. Decorate with paint and varnish to preserve.

Christmas Scented Salt Dough RecipeScent your home naturally with ornaments and decorations created with this Christmas Scented Salt Dough using Kitchen Ingredients.

Ingredients
  • 125 g plain flour
  • 273 g table salt
  • cup Up to 1 of water
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon orange essence or 5 drops of Wild Orange Essential Oil
Instructions
  1. Put the dry ingredients and orange essence or essential oil into a bowl

  1. Slowly add the water

  1. Mix to a smooth dough

  1. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface

  1. Knead

  1. Roll out

  1. Use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes

  1. Place on a lined baking tray

  1. Put in the oven at the lowest settings for 1 hour

  1. Turn over and return to the oven till they are dry.
